When Nya's father said, "Cant you guess?" I think he's inferring that they will be building a water fountain in that area.
Some of the differences from Rochester and Salva's home town Lone Ark is that the temperature is much colder in Rochester. Another difference is that all the roads in Rochester were made where as in Salva home, the roads were all made of dirt.
I think that Salva should take into consideration that this might be his only chance to see his family again, so yes. I think that Salva should ignore his fathers request and go see his family.
Water has the water to do both. It can unite people and give them hope but people can fight over water because of jealousy and greed. I think it all comes down to how the people in control use it.
If Salva was older and stronger, I think he would share with the others. But I don't think Salva's Uncle would encourage that Idea.
I think Uncle Jewiir goes back to fight in the war because he feels compelled to help others.
The groups attitude to Salva changes when his Uncle dies. The group starts to think that Salva will slow them down and complain. Because of this, Salva must work hard to earn his place in the group,
While Salva is in the refugee camp, he follows this woman that he think is his mother but while chasing after her, he comes to the realisation that his family is gone. The memory of his mother and father gives him the strength to survive in the camp.
Salva overcomes his fears because he is preoccupied with helping the group with build boats. I Have never experienced anything similar.
The worst Salva has faced would probably be walking across the blistering hot dessert because he is forced to continue the journey even though his body is going through a lot of pain.
His Uncle helps Salva by asking him if he can walk to a specific part of the dessert. Without his Uncle, he would have most likely been left behind and died because of dehydration. I can make small goals that I know I can accomplish.
"I'm so scared and tired, but I have to keep going."
A long walk to water prediction.
A the end of chapter 5, Salva hears someone behind him call his name. I willing to guess that the person who called his name if one of his brothers, or someone else in his family.

In the first chapter, we learn that Salva is from which is in South Sudan. He is 11 years old and has three brothers and two sisters. His fathers is successful and a very respected man.
In his life he has huge responsibility and has his fathers shoes to fill. In many ways, his life is very different from mine.
The first chapter shows some of the questions going through Salva's head which are "Where are we going?" "Where is my family" and "When will I see them again?" If I were In that same situation, I'd probably be thinking the same things.
Everyday, Nya goes to collect water for her family, She has to endure the heaviness of the plastic bottle and the thorns going against her feet. I would dread having to spend almost everyday walking and would get tired of carrying the filled plastic bottle on my head.
You can tell tribes apart by the scar markings on their heads. One of the ways I can tell students of other cultures apart is by looking at their uniform I can tell where their school is and cultures they have in that area.
